15 De frameprothese in de maxillofaciale prothetiek

Samenvatting

● In de maxillofaciale prothetiek wordt de frameprothese veelvuldig toegepast ter vervanging van ontbrekende gebitselementen, maar ook voor vervanging van ontbrekende benige en/of weke delen of ter ondersteuning van weke delen. Het oorspronkelijke toepassingsgebied is voor een deel overgenomen door prothetische constructies op implantaten, vooral bij aangeboren afwijkingen. Bijvoorbeeld bij rehabilitaties van patiënten die zijn behandeld vanwege een hoofd-halstumor en van oudere schisispatiënten, is de frameprothese echter nog vaak de behandeling van keuze.
