Samenvatting
Het beoordelen van de systolische linkerventrikel (LV-)functie is een cruciaal onderdeel van het echocardiografisch onderzoek bij elke patiënt met een hartkwaal of met verdenking daarop. Het beoordelen van de systolische LV-functie helpt bij het stellen van de diagnose en bij het bepalen van de beste behandelstrategie. Daarnaast hangt de prognose van vrijwel alle ziekten van het hart sterk af van de mate waarin de LV in staat is zijn systolische functie uit te oefenen (fig. 7.1).
