Idealiter wordt een GMC gehouden in een lichte, ruime zaal met een prettige sfeer, die rustig gelegen is en zich in de buurt bevindt van de locatie waar patiënten voor individuele consulten komen. In de praktijk is het echter vaak moeilijk om een geschikte ruimte voor het GMC te vinden.
