24 Preventieve en restauratieve behandeling van pathologische tandslijtage ten gevolge van erosie

Samenvatting

In de moderne maatschappij lijkt extreme tandslijtage in toenemende mate een probleem te worden. Factoren die tandslijtage tot gevolg kunnen hebben zijn erosie, abrasie, attritie en abfractie. Enerzijds is tandslijtage een fysiologisch proces dat alle tanden kan betreffen, anderzijds worden onder andere erosieve invloeden verantwoordelijk geacht voor een pathologische progressie van het normale slijtageproces. Slijtage kan als pathologisch worden gedefinieerd indien te verwachten is dat de functie van het gebitselement niet gedurende het hele leven van de patiƫnt gewaarborgd blijft.
