Samenvatting

De succesformule voor het gebruik van fluoride kan als volgt worden omschreven: ‘to obtain and then maintain a high frequency, low concentration regimen, because low levels of fluoride in the oral fluids significantly affect ongoing de- and remineralization’ (Clarkson et al., 1996). Om fluoridepreparaten te kunnen kiezen die deze voorwaarde vervullen, is een goed inzicht nodig hoe de fluorideconcentratie rond het cariësproces – in het speeksel, de plaquevloeistof en de interstitiële vloeistof tussen de apatietkristallen – verhoogd kan worden om de ‘ongoing de- and remineralization’ te beïnvloeden.
