Allergische conjunctivitis is een ontsteking van het oog - bindvlies als een reactie op allergenen. Bij allergische oog - aandoeningen worden 6 verschijningsvormen onderscheiden: seizoensgebonden allergische conjunctivitis, chronische allergische conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis vernalis, atopische keratoconjunctivitis, conjunctivitis door contactallergie, en de vreemdlichaam-conjunctivitis (giant papillary conjunctivitis) van de contactlensdragers.
