Doseringen tot 400 microgram per dag van budesonide of beclomethason en 200-250 microgram fluticason of beclomethason extra fijn zijn veilig en effectief voor de meeste kinderen met astma (1). Groeiremming blijkt geen rol te spelen. Daarmee zou het antwoord dus kunnen zijn dat het vervolgen van de groei bij kinderen die worden behandeld met inhalatiecorticosteroïden (ICS) niet nodig is. Maar dit is niet juist.
