Al vanaf de eerste levensmaanden wordt de ontwikkeling van kinderen en jongeren mede bepaald door sociale relatiesmet leeftijdgenoten. Het domein van de sociale relatievorming met leeftijdgenoten is een van de vitale arena’s – gezin en school zijn de andere – waarin kinderen leren: moreel, emotioneel, sociaal en cognitief.
