Samenvatting

De controle van de botheling en het handhaven van het bot-implantaatcontact zijn complexe processen. Niet alle situaties rond een aangebracht implantaat laten osteogene processen aan het grensvlak toe. Indien tijdens de genezing geen osseointegratie wordt bereikt maar het implantaat wordt omgeven door fibreus weefsel, spreekt men van vroegtijdig biologisch falen (Esposito et al., 1998a).
