Endoscopisch hechten wordt traditioneel als een van de belangrijkste barrières gezien tijdens laparoscopische ingrepen vanwege beperkte bewegingsmogelijkheden, gebrek aan krachtterugkoppeling en het feit dat gewerkt moet worden met een tweedimensionaal beeld met vrijwel afwezige schaduwwerking.
