Samenvatting

De baarmoeder is een peervormig hol orgaan met een dikke spierwand en aan de binnenzijde bekleed met een tere mucosale (slijmvlies)laag. De intracavitaire ruimte van de uterus kan alleen via het nauwe cervicale kanaal worden bereikt en gevisualiseerd na een goede distensie (uitrekking/overrekking) van deze virtuele ruimte tussen de uteruswanden.
