Internaliserende problematiek in de kindertijd als risicofactor voor de ontwikkeling van persoonlijkheidspathologie op latere leeftijd

Abstract

Hoewel de persoonlijkheid zich vormt gedurende de ontwikkeling in een mensenleven, worden persoonlijkheidsstoornissen gezien als het exclusieve domein van de volwassenenpsychiatrie. Immers, een van de algemene criteria voor het stellen van de categoriale diagnose persoonlijkheidsstoornis is dat de persoon ouder is dan 18 jaar. In overeenstemming hiermee reiken vele theorieën die ontwikkeld zijn over kinderpsychopathologie niet verder dan de leeftijd van 18 jaar. Ideeën over de relatie tussen een verstoorde persoonlijkheidsontwikkeling in de vroege jeugd en het latere optreden van een persoonlijkheidsstoornis zijn voornamelijk afkomstig uit het domein van de ontwikkelingspsychopathologie.
