Abstract
L’Ottica Geometrica è una delle scienze fisiche più antiche ma ancóra costituisce l’approccio più efficace per spiegare una buona parte dei fenomeni ottici più comuni. Essa è utile in particolare per tracciare la propagazione della luce in mezzi inomogenei e per descrivere o progettare gli strumenti ottici. L’enfasi di questa disciplina è posta nel trovare il cammino di raggi di luce, immaginati come linee geometriche lungo le quali fluisce l’energia e si basa su poche semplici osservazioni: a) la luce si propaga in linea retta nei mezzi omogenei ed in particolare si possono produrre dei sottili fasci di luce, assimilabili ai raggi nel limite fisicamente irraggiungibile di un’infinita sottigliezza: b) le leggi di riflessione e rifrazione; c) distinti fasci di luce si propagano senza perturbarsi; d) le sorgenti “naturali” sono generalmente scorrelate fra loro per cui i loro fasci di luce si sovrappongono senza dare interferenza.
