Abstract

vascular malformations may involve bones and joints. Long bones may show a growth anomay with enhancement o reduction or growth, called vascular-bone syndrome. Management requires an early removal of the vascular defect. By long bone length discrepancy of the lower limbs more than 4-5 cm, a combined orthopedic and vascular surgery approach is recommended. Joint involvement cause cartilage destruction and may develope even in early childhood. Symptoms are pain, muscle contractions and limping. Diagnosis is done by plain x ray, MR and arthroscopy. Treatment is based on removal of the dysplasic tissue and hip replacement in severe cases.
