Abstract

abnormal vacular masses were known since several centurires. The first descriptions of a-v fistulas were done in the XVIII century by Lealis Leali, Winslows and others. In the XIX century the first attempt to cure av fistulas by artery ligation were done. Venous anomalies were described first in the XIX century. About somatic hypetrophy were reported first by Saint-Hilaire and later by several other authors. In 1900 Klippel and Trenaunay published their famos paper describing the “triade” of signs (nevus, lymb hypertrophy and dilated superficial veins) in cases of lower limb vascular anomalies withous a-v fistula signs. F Parkes Weber described cases with the same signs but with clinical data abour a-v fistulas. Limb hypotrophy was described only at the middle of the XXth century br Servelle. Lymphatic dysplasias were described in the XIX century by Wernher and a classification proposed by Wegener. Progress in the treatment of CVM were first on the surgical techniques, due to Malan and Belov and later by the introduction of catheter embolization. The percutaneous alcohl occlusion of CVM was the more recent acquired procedure.
