La definizione di errore in anatomia patologica è estremamente difficile e non univoca; considerando che il compito principale di un servizio di anatomia patologica (mission) è quello di fornire un referto diagnostico accurato e completo, viene in genere accettato il concetto che l’errore in questo ambito sia “l’attribuzione di una diagnosi anatomo-patologica che non rappresenta la reale natura del processo patologico in un paziente” [1].
