Abstract
The breast is a cone with the apex at the nipple and the base at the chest wall. The superficial subcutaneous envelope of the breast is the superficial fascia, which is found in the sub cutis practically in all regions of the body. Superficial fascia is separated from the skin envelope by 0.5–3 cm of subcutaneous fat (adipose tissue). The adult glandular part of the breast contains lactiferous lobes that converge to the nipple, to the milk ducts. The base of the cone is attached to the deep fascia of the breast. This fascia is the dense fibrous connective tissue that surrounds the pectoralis muscles.
