18F-FDG in the Imaging of Brain Tumors

Abstract

High 18F-FDG accumulation in the brain indicates an aggressive lesion, whereas in low-grade tumors or in benign condition, such us a vascular lesion,18F-FDG no accumulates to significant levels. The other typical indication for 18F-FDG study in the brain is in the differential diagnosis between the recurrence of high-grade tumors and radionecrosis.
