Abstract
The more frequent causes of cranioencephalic trauma are motor accidents, falls, and work or sport accidents. The overall incidence of cranioencephalic trauma is 200 per 100 000 individuals and the average mortality for cerebral lesions is 30 per 100 000 individuals. Studies of the distribution of the incidence in relation to gender and age reveal a male/female ratio of 3:1. Males have an higher incidence than females at all ages, if we exclude very young subjects under 2 years and the elderly over 65 years of age. The highest incidence fluctuates between 15 and 24 years of age.
