Riassunto

Il recupero postoperatorio è una fase fondamentale per la sicurezza di un paziente che ha subito un atto chirurgico e anestesiologico, a causa del quale si determinano alterazioni delle funzioni fisiologiche che si estendono al periodo postoperatorio [1]. È quindi indispensabile seguire il paziente in questa fase delicata in un ambiente adeguato che oggi si riconosce nella Recovery Room (RR), Terapia Intensiva Postoperatoria (TIPO), o Post Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU). La maggior parte dei pazienti supera la fase anestesiologica senza problemi; l’incidenza della mortalità strettamente associata all’anestesia è rara [2].
