Le malattie cardiovascolari sono la causa più importante di morbilità e mortalità nei Paesi occidentali. I progressi della cardiologia moderna sono intimamente connessi allo sviluppo delle tecniche di imaging, che hanno determinato un sostanziale avanzamento delle possibilità diagnostiche e terapeutiche. Ciò, a sua volta, ha portato a un esponenziale incremento delle procedure che prevedono l’esposizione a radiazioni ionizzanti, come le tecniche di cardiologia interventistica, cardiologia nucleare e TC cardiaca [1].
