Reporting in Cardiac CT

Abstract

The report is probably the most important part of cardiac computed tomography (CCT) and usually it is the last stage of the procedure. It should collect all the information concerning the patients history and radiologic/clinical judgment together with images. A structured report is mandatory for a good CCT lab. The referring clinicians expect a report that they can understand and from which they can extrapolate the relevant information needed for patient care. Common criteria and language are therefore important, as it is for other imaging modalities (echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear cardiology, conventional coronary angiography — CAG), whenever possible. This will become more important from now on since CCT will be able to provide information on inducible ischemia and viability.
