Abstract
After surgery, patients frequently experience severe pain, and a significant portion receives less than adequate analgesia [1, 2]. Furthermore, surveys in 1980s showed that as many as 30–75% of patients still receive inadequate pain treatment in the postoperative period, despite an increasing awareness of this issue [3–6].
