Abstract

There are a large variety of neoplasms and tumour-like lesions that arise from the surface of bone. To the unwary observer these lesions produce a bewildering spectrum of radiographic appearances that can lead to misinterpretation and suboptimal management. The purpose of this review is to describe the differential diagnosis and highlight the value of imaging in identifying the correct diagnosis.
