Neoplastic spinal lesions make up one of the most important chapters in neurosurgery: the removal of generally benign tumors affecting the spinal cord has represented one of the most advanced and impressive stages in neurological surgery since 1887 when the English surgeon Horsley first removed a spinal tumor following the indications of Cowers, a neurologist who specialized in spinal pathology.
