MR Imaging in Hyperacute Stroke

Part of the Syllabus book series (SYLLABUS)

Stroke is diagnosed approximately 400000 times per year in the United States, and contributes to approximately 150000 deaths per year. While the clinical diagnosis of stroke is questionable only infrequently, intervention may depend on a more accurate assessment than clinical evaluation. Attemps to find an effective therapy for stroke have so far been limited, and many investigators believe that this is due to an incomplete understanding of human stroke, particularly in the acute stage.
