Atrial Fibrillation and Flutter: Sympathetic Nervous System and Arrhythmogenesis
In the last few years, several studies have investigated the role of autonomic dysfunction in atrial fibrillation (AF) onset. In most instances, particularly in subjects with paroxysmal AF, a distinct proarrhythmic effect of sympathetic or vagal activation was found.
