Riassunto

Il paziente critico rappresenta una sfida per il clinico. Le sue condizioni sono oggetto di modificazioni rapide e la valutazione clinica può essere insufficiente per un corretto inquadramento. In queste condizioni, il monitoraggio strumentale rappresenta per la cura del paziente un ausilio insostituibile. Attualmente il monitoraggio elettrocardiografico e la pulsossimetria rappresentano due pilastri fondamentali per monitorare il sistema cardiocircolatorio; all’interno di questo capitolo, tuttavia, restringeremo la nostra attenzione a quello che viene definito più strettamente monitoraggio emodinamico, il monitoraggio della pressione e della portata cardiaca.
