La quasi totalità della letturatura sulle problematiche dell’anziano in terapia intensiva presenta la medesima premessa: nel mondo occidentale ci si attende un futuro caratterizzato da una popolazione impoverita di giovani e con un numero di ultraottantenni sempre maggiore.
