Riassunto

Le lesioni traumatiche dell’uretere costituiscono un’evenienza decisamente rara in seguito a un trauma addominale chiuso, mentre il loro riscontro appare più frequente nei traumi penetranti dell’addome. Rispetto al totale dei traumi, la percentuale che coinvolge l’apparato urinario resta comunque limitata al 3% [1], ciò è dovuto alla particolare collocazione anatomica, che vede l’uretere protetto nel suo decorso dalla colonna vertebrale e dai muscoli dorsali, posteriormente, e dalle strutture muscolari dell’addome anteriormente e lateralmente. Inoltre la relativa mobilità e flessibilità dell’uretere costituiscono un ulteriore fattore protettivo in caso di trauma decelerativo anche di notevole energia. L’uretere costituisce l’unico tramite per il deflusso dell’urina dal rene alla vescica, di conseguenza ogni lesione ureterale rappresenta un rischio potenziale per il rene omolaterale.
