Riassunto

Gli scanner TC spirale generano una quantità di dati che rappresentano la densità e la posizione reciproca dei voxel componenti il volume di indagine, ricostruiti su sezioni consecutive tra loro parallele, solitamente orientate lungo piani assiali. In particolare, con l’evoluzione e la diffusione degli scanner TC spirale multidetettore — che consentono di acquisire dataset volumetrici con risoluzione spaziale submillimetrica in tempi assai più brevi rispetto agli apparecchi monodetettore — non è infrequente che vengano generate serie costituite da migliaia di immagini [1, 2]. Ciò pone il problema di ottenere una visione sintetica di una mole così grande di dati analitici, per una visualizzazione panoramica oppure mirata di un determinato distretto anatomico.
