Riassunto

L’inizio del nuovo secolo ha visto la nascita e l’affermazione di una nuova branca della diagnostica per immagini ad oggi conosciuta come cardioradiologia, dedicata alla valutazione non invasiva del cuore e del circolo coronarico. Già dagli anni ’80, nonostante i limiti tecnologi dell’epoca, la risonanza magnetica (RM) aveva iniziato a muovere i primi passi verso uno studio non invasivo del miocardio. Attualmente l’introduzione della tecnologia dell’imaging parallelo, i nuovi programmi di sincronizzazione elettrocardiografia e le geometrie delle recenti sequenze di scansione, come le sequenze SSFP (Steady-State Free Precession; evoluzione delle TFE), hanno consentito di esplorare il distretto cardiaco con elevata risoluzione e soprattutto in assenza di artefatti da respiro e da pulsazione, che un tempo inficiavano la qualità diagnostica dell’immagine.
