L’importanza dell’uretere nel contesto dell’apparato urinario, se ce ne fosse ancora bisogno, risalta con prepotente rilevanza quando si affronta il problema delle derivazioni urinarie. Queste s’impongono tutte le volte che si debba porre indicazione alla cistectomia semplice per gravi e irreversibili alterazioni della vescica o per finalità palliative, o alla cistectomia radicale per cancro infiltrante dell’organo.
