Abstract

Currently, cerebral palsy (CP) is still defined as a “disorder of development of posture and movement” (Bax, Goldstein, Rosenbaum et al. 2005). To be consistent with this definition, the only possibility to classify CP should be done by carrying out an analysis of posture and movement disorders, with movement interpreted as gesture, both assessed from a quality (nature) and quantity (measure) point of view. Consequently, the only way to measure the success of re-educational treatment is to observe if the patient has acquired a long lasting improved posture and gesture ability, differently from what would have been expected if the normal natural history of that clinical form had run its course.
