Il moto uniforme ha origine dalla condizione di equilibrio tra le forze motrici e le forze resistenti al moto. Viene anzitutto descritta in maniera dettagliata la condizione di moto uniforme, con indicazione delle formule di moto uniforme da applicare nel caso di correnti a pelo libero in canali a sezione circolare, ovoidale ed a ferro di cavallo. Sono inoltre proposte alcune espressioni semplificate in grado di agevolare il calcolo delle grandezze idrauliche principali, quali portata, tirante idrico e carico specifico, in condizione di moto uniforme. Nel prosieguo vengono poi specificamente trattate alcune problematiche relative al funzionamento dei sistemi fognari quali, ad esempio, la presenza di correnti aerate in collettori fognari con pendenze elevate e la transizione da deflusso a superficie libera a moto in pressione (inglese: “choking”). Infine, vengono illustrati criteri di dimensionamento idraulico dei collettori fognari, anche con l’ausilio di esempi numerici.
