Riassunto

L’osteoporosi sembra in grado di compromettere la stabilità dell’osso, che si evidenzia clinicamente con la frattura, agendo sia sulla densità minerale che sulla qualità dell’osso stesso. La ricerca tecnologica dedicata ha quindi focalizzato l’attenzione, oltre che sulle metodiche densitometriche tradizionali, anche su nuove metodiche non invasive, in grado di valutare non solo le caratteristiche densitometriche dell’osso ma anche quelle qualitative, come la microarchitettura.
