Riassunto
Nell’infanzia e nell’adolescenza l’urgenza per patologia traumatica osteo-articolare è un’evenienza frequente, costituendo una delle principali cause di richiesta di assistenza medica nel Pronto Soccorso di un Ospedale Pediatrico (oltre il 15–20% di tutti gli accessi). Le lesioni da trauma scheletrico in età pediatrica hanno incidenza maggiore che nell’adulto, anche se nella gran parte dei casi l’entità del danno anatomico è modesto. I maschi sono interessati molto più frequentemente delle femmine. In quasi il 50% dei casi il trauma è secondario ad una caduta e, in questa evenienza, le fratture del gomito e del polso sono le lesioni più comuni. Le fratture carpali, tuttavia, sono lesioni inusuali nel bambino e, quando presenti, interessano quasi sempre lo scafoide.
