Sebbene le principali alterazioni dell’artrite reumatoide (AR) si manifestino a carico delle articolazioni sinoviali dello scheletro appendicolare, possono essere interessate anche le articolazioni sinoviali dello scheletro assiale, in particolare le interapofisarie cervicali e l’atlo-epistrofea, mentre infrequente è il coinvolgimento del rachide dorsolombare e delle articolazioni sacro-iliache.
