Abstract

Emergency management of animal diseases is required when there are outbreaks of contagious diseases in a country or region that is free of infection. Under these circumstances, animal diseases have the potential to cause serious socio-economic consequences in a given country or area. Such diseases may also spread easily and reach epidemic proportions, thus requiring joint and coordinated interventions between several countries.
