Abstract
Modern computed tomography (CT), particularly with the now readily available compatible software, is an important imaging technique for diagnosing and evaluating many different types of pelvic neoplasms. Multidetector scanners that permit coronal- and sagittal-plane isotropic image reconstruction, provide a distinct advantage over magnetic resonance imaging, particularly for imaging the rectum and bladder, and may redefine the role of CT imaging of the pelvis. In this chapter, we discuss our routine protocol for single-slice scanners with contrast-enhanced helical acquisition in relation to the specific organ being examined. We also discuss some benign and malignant pelvic tumors encountered in our clinical practice and studied using CT imaging.
