Abstract

Laparoscopic repair of ventral and incisional hernias has gained wider acceptance among surgeons than the open technique, due to the favorable results in terms of incidence of recurrences, complications, and patient satisfaction. Most of the series published in the literature concern elective cases [17]. By contrast, the role of laparoscopy in the treatment of incarcerated or strangulated ventral hernias is not yet established because of the small number of case series and case reports [812].
