The Instability after Radial Head Excision

Abstract

The most common clinical scenario leading to consideration of radial head excision is a comminuted radial head fracture in which rigid internal fixation is not feasible. Other indications for radial head excision may be painful malor non-union after conservatively or operatively treated fracture [1, 2, 3], failed internal fixation [3, 4, 5], as a supplement to a synovectomy in inflammatory arthritis [6], and various developmental deformities including congenital/ chronic dislocation of the radial head [7].
