La colonna vertebrale rappresenta una delle sedi più frequentemente coinvolte dall’evento fratturativo nell’osteoporosi. Le modificazioni qualitative e quantitative delle trabecole ossee predispongono il corpo vertebrale alla frattura per minimi traumi o sotto carichi fisiologici. È difficile valutare accuratamente l’epidemiologia delle fratture vertebrali da osteoporosi in quanto spesso possono essere misconosciute alla diagnosi clinica: il loro decorso clinico infatti è estremamente variabile e solo un terzo si manifesta clinicamente [1].
