Le fratture dell’epifisi prossimale dell’omero rappresentano il 4% di tutte le fratture articolari, interessano le donne con un rapporto 2:1 rispetto agli uomini, si verificano con traumi a bassa energia in casi di osteoporosi per la bassa densità ossea e per l’alterazione della microarchitettura ossea [1]. L’incidenza cresce con l’avanzare dell’età in eguale misura in uomini e donne [2] e la scelta del trattamento è strettamente correlata al tipo di frattura e alia vascolarizzazione residua della testa omerale.
