Abstract

Potential applications of single molecular magnets (SMMs) in high density storage devices have been a major driving force for researchs in this field [1, 2, 3]. An hindrance to applications of this kind lies in the mobility of spins. That is, uncontrolled spin inversions can arise which destroy any magnetic order. Therefore, we need to understand the microscopic mechanisms on which such interactions are based, so that their effects can be removed or reduced in the new generations of magnetic molecules.
