Il petto escavato (PE) rappresenta la più comune malformazione congenita della gabbia toracica, caratterizzata da una depressione dello sterno e delle cartilagini condrosternali. Si può associare a patologie del tessuto connettivo quali la sindrome di Marfan, il prolasso della valvola mitrale e l’osteogenesi imperfetta ed è più frequente negli uomini che nelle donne.
