Estratto

La prima descrizione di embolia polmonare va attribuita a Laennec nel 1819. Solo più tardi, nel 1846, von Virchow descrisse la connessione fra trombosi venosa e malattia embolica polmonare. La prima descrizione radiografica dell’embolia polmonare, ad opera di Wharton e Pierson, risale invece al 1922.
