Estratto
La terapia radiante è un trattamento fisico che danneggia ogni tessuto che si trovi nel suo raggio d’azione. L’entità del danno prodotto dalle radiazioni varia con:

1.
la diversa sensibilità dei diversi tipi cellulari;

2.
la fase moltiplicativa delle cellule coinvolte: le cellule a riposo sono più resistenti rispetto alle cellule in moltiplicazione;
-
3.
l’ossigenazione cellulare: le cellule ipossiche mostrano maggiore resistenza;
-
4.
le modalità di radiazione, cioè la dose totale, il numero di frazioni, la loro scansione nel tempo, il tipo di radiazione ionizzante utilizzata.
