Design of Time-Delay Compensator for a FOPDT Process Model

Abstract

Majority of the chemical processes in process industry can be modeled as first-order plus dead time processes. In the present analysis, selected process model transfer function is taken into consideration and PID controllers are designed for the process using various tuning techniques and the effect of dead time is compensated using Smith predictor.
