Abstract

Sarcoidosis is a chronic multisystemic granulomatous disorder caused by an exaggerated cellular immune response to a variety of self- or non-self-antigens in a genetically predisposed individual. It is characterized by noncaseating granulomas affecting many organs including the lung, lymph nodes, skin, heart, liver, muscles, and eye [1, 2]. The diagnosis of sarcoidosis is usually made on the basis of a biopsy and a combination of typical clinical features and radiology findings in the absence of any condition that can cause similar clinicoradiological and pathological changes.
